The holiday makers and tourists flock to the coastal township, attracted by the laid back bohemian lifestyle; it is a means of escapism from the city and daily grind of everyday life.

Artwork is abundant in the cafes of Raglan and a must see is the Aqua Velvet. The only artist's work displayed this year has been of Maori carver Aaron Kereopa. He carves surfboard blanks into traditional Maori designs. These carvings stand out not only for their size, but also for their intricate Polynesian designs and three-dimensional shapes, the texturing of the colours and their overall.

So what makes this township so popular? Why has it become the place to be seen and a lifestyle for the famous, infamous and the downright trendies?
It may have something to do with the fact that it still remains one of the most ‘unspoilt' spots to visit in New Zealand .

JUST BEWARE: This is not your usual town, so don't be put off by the lack of clothes shops, cinemas or pubs. This is a town that involves using your imagination, it is not all laid on for you but if you allow, will open up a world of adventures.
